Sergio Villarrubia and Jaime Azurmendi have recently joined Cheil as creative directors to lead the techno-creative team that Alejandro Di Trolio has been forming after his incorporation as executive creative director of the agency. Sergio Villarrubia has been working in advertising for nine years , seven of them as a creative in agencies such as VCCP, MRM McCann and FCB&FiRe, for brands such as Microsoft, Worten, Banco Santander, LaLiga, Ikea, Netflix, Nike or Coca Cola, among others. Along with these brands, Villarubia has participated in different international competitions, winning different recognitions in El Sol, the c de c, El Ojo de Iberoamérica, Cannes Lions, Eurobest, NY Festival or CLIO Awards, to name some of the most relevant ones. What stands out in his career is winning the first Cannes Grand Prix in the history of Spain in the Branded Content category, with the project “Beyond money” for Banco Santander.
For his part , Jaime Azurmendi, with whom Sergio is currently a duo, began his career in advertising as an art director in 2008 working in both Spain and Sweden in agencies such as Bob, BTOB, Fullsix and Phone Number List NOW Havas; in the latter two as creative director. Specialized in digital and innovation, he has worked for clients such as Coca Cola, Mahou, Banco Santander, Fox, Axa, Milka, Visa or Mixta among others, obtaining awards at festivals such as El Sol and CdeC. “ For me, having Jaime Azurmendi and Sergio Villarrubia at the head of Cheil's creative teams represents a strong commitment to digital creativity, content and innovation .
